John Kier

John R. Keir, LL.B. TEP*

John Keir was educated at Queens University Belfast where he gained an LLB in Law.
John served his apprenticeship with McKinty and Wright Solicitors in Belfast. After 10 years’ experience as an assistant in private practice in the Dromore and Portadown areas, John formed John R Keir & Co Solicitors in 1985. This practice merged with McAteer & Co in 2006. John is currently head of the private client department, with particular focus on residential conveyancing, wills and probate.

In response to the increasing net worth of our private clients, John has developed the specialist area of inheritance tax planning and advising on nursing home fees and asset protection.   

John is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
John has also developed specialist experience in trusts, with particular expertise in the area of trusts for disabled people.

John is currently a committee member of the Croft Community Residential home, Bangor.
